EM11 Cricklade Mixture (lowland meadow)

Wild meadow mixtures are harvested directly from wild sites and are therefore more variable than our other mixtures.  Based on several years of analysis we present the main composition by seed number of species present in a typical harvest.  The actual composition of each harvest will vary and will include small amounts of a wide range of species that do not appear in the analysis.  Because ancient meadows are a finite and precious  resource, seed supplies from these sources are limited and we are only able to offer these mixtures subject to harvest and availability.

EM11 Cricklade Mixture is 'brush harvested' from North Meadow National Nature Reserve in Wiltshire, the finest lowland meadow in Britain.  North Meadow is a traditional water meadow, situated beside the upper River Thames on gravely clay soil.  The meadow occasionally floods in wet winters and is famous for the snakeshead fritillary.  Cricklade mixture is our best meadow mixture because of both its origin and species content.  It is suitable for sowing on most lowland soils, particularly in southern England.  We have been harvesting this mixture for many years and it has produced some excellent results.

The typical composition of EM11 is as follows:
