| EM10 consists of tussock forming grasses like tufted hairgrass and
cocksfoot, combined with more robust wild flowers like knapweeds.
This mixture has been devised to create areas of tussocky grassland that, once established, require little or no maintenance. This grassland type can form a good habitat for insects, small mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles, providing nesting sites during spring, food during summer and autumn, and shelter during winter.
The varied heights, structure and forms of the grasses in EM10 provides the main focus of interest in this mixture. Sown beside other meadow and grassland mixtures, along boundaries or in corners, this mixture can produce a contrasting backdrop which greatly enhances the combined wildlife value and interest of a scheme.
The grasses in the Tussock mixture can also be sown alone as mixture EG10, and the flowers as EM10(F).
